Broussard admits killing Chauncey Bailey(0)
Devaughndre Broussard, a handyman at the now defunct Your Black Muslim Bakery, admitted on Thursday to killing Chauncey Bailey as part of plea deal in which he agreed to give prosecutors evidence that the journalist’s murder and two other slayings were ordered by bakery leader Yusuf Bey IV.
Broussard trial delayed until February
Superior Court judge on Friday said the murder trial of Devaughndre Broussard, charged in killing journalist Chauncey Bailey, will likely start in February. He scheduled another hearing for Dec. 12 when he said he hoped a specific date could be set.

Devaughndre M. Broussard, charged with murder in the 2007 slaying of journalist Chauncey Bailey, made a brief appearance Friday in Alameda County Superior Court, where the scheduling of his trial was postponed until September.

Whether or not one believes Devaughndre Broussard killed Oakland Post Editor Chauncey Bailey on a downtown Oakland street last August, Broussard’s 20 years clearly have been a litany of woes.
