OAKLAND — Lawyers in the Chauncey Bailey murder trial will argue Tuesday over how much jurors will see of a secretly recorded police videotape that appears to show former Your Black Muslim Bakery leader Yusuf Bey IV mocking the shotgun blasts that killed the journalist. It now appears that the earliest jurors could see the video is Wednesday.

OAKLAND — A Chauncey Bailey Project reporter received a death threat Thursday while working on a story about a former Your Black Muslim Bakery member embroiled in a series of alleged real estate scams. “If you write that story, you are going to end up like your friend Chauncey,” a male caller told Josh Richman, 40, a legal and political affairs journalist for the Bay Area News Group.

Allegations of real estate fraud dog former associate of Your Black Muslim Bakery

Even as the murder trial of the former Your Black Muslim Bakery’s last chief executive progresses, a former bakery associate is the subject of several civil lawsuits accusing him of fraud. Jamall Joseph Robinson, 25, also known as Yasir Hakeem Azzem or Jamal Bey, is being sued for real estate fraud in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
